Hello, my name is Elsa Nury Soto Fernandez and I am from Cali, Colombia. In Colombia, I studied History, which qualified me to be a teacher in high School. I taught Social Studies for seven years. As part of  Hispanic family, I came from an extended family. I have both parents and six siblings.  I love my parents and my four sisters and two brothers. I also have my grand mother, and many relatives. All my family is very close. In my culture family comes first. After I came to United States in 2005, I was looking for job that could be related with my profession as teacher. So, I was hired in 2007 as teacher aide in Ada Vista Elementary School. As teacher aide, I work with the students to help with their Spanish skills. I am also a playground aide to monitor students during recess and lunch time. I love to work in Ada Vista, it has became my second home. Sometimes I forgot that I am out my country. The experience has been amazing, I can speak my own language, and I have the opportunity to interact with children who speak Spanish all the time, sometimes they talk so much. It does not bother me at all because this is the  idea of Spanish Immersion environment. I am happy to be part of it.  


Besides Ada Vista, I do other things in life. I love read History, Philosophy, and Literature. I try to run whenever it is possible. I love music from my country salsa and vallenato. My favorite hobby in life is cooking. I think this is my best skill. I also enjoy sharing with my friends and talking with my family on the phone.
