Snack Policy
Click on the picture for an article on healthy snack choices.
One of my greatest responsibilities as a teacher is to make sure that each and every child in my classroom is healthy and safe while at school. This year, I will need your help and support and your child's cooperation in order to ensure the health of all the students in your child's class. Since Forest Hills is taking a more active role regarding student health and wellness, I feel it appropriate to support that goal in the classroom. As a result of this policy I would like to request the following items.
First, I would ask that you arrange your child's snack that they eat in the classroom to consist of fruits and vegetables or any other food that you consider healthy. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SENDING IN ANYTHING PEANUT/NUT RELATED to help keep all of the kids safe against allergic reactions. Fresh fruits and fresh veggies are ideal, but please also raisins, canned fruits, fruit cocktail, applesauce, yogurt, cheese or crackers. Again, these are just SOME examples. This requirement not only ensures the safety of these students, but it also encourages healthy eating habits for everyone, and will guarantee that I do not need to spend precious instructional minutes checking and reading nutrition labels or passing out approved snacks each day during snack time. Please be aware that this is only a requirement for the snack which will be eaten in the classroom. Lunch and snacks that are to be eaten in the lunchroom have absolutely no limitations.
As always, I am always open for comments, questions and concerns. Feel free to contact me at school at 493-8970 or via e-mail at: [email protected]
Thank you for your continuing support.
Very Sincerely,
Señor Trevor Hollenbeck

Water
Click the water fountain to read about the importance of hydration at the elementary level.
It is important for our bodies and our brains to stay hydrated during the school day. Our classroom has a drinking fountain so students do not required to bring a water bottle. They may do so but I will ask that they remain in their lockers.
